Car Service Plan

A Service Plan pays for specified aspects of the recommended services of your car by an approved facility for a specific term or kilometers travelled, whichever comes first, in the Republic of South Africa. Filters, spark plugs and lubricants are normally covered by our Service Plan product partners and their car servicing providers.

A Maintenance Plan pays for everything included in the Service Plan, plus the replacement, maintenance or repair of specific wear-and-tear parts, when necessary.

A Service Plan pays for the cost of servicing your car in line with the manufacturer’s specified guidelines.

You can buy a Service Plan in the following ways:

Full upfront payment – pay the full price by credit card or EFT
Monthly – pay on a monthly basis through debit order

You are eligible for a Service Plan if, at the date of purchase, your car:

has travelled less than 250 000 km; and
Is less than 10 years old (calculated from date of first registration).

Your Service Plan starts at the start date, as stated in the owner’s plan summary. The plan month starts on the date you buy the plan or at the end of the existing or manufacturer plan, whichever comes first.

Your Service Plan is not a fixed-term plan. It runs for a specific term (e.g. 3 years) or kilometres travelled (e.g. 45 000 km), whichever comes first.

It depends on the method you used to buy your plan:

  • Upfront (credit card & EFT) – we will be providing benefits 30 business days after the Service Plan payment was made.
  • Monthly debit order – we will be providing benefits after 4 consecutive monthly payments.

The Roadside Assistance benefits will be available from your Service Plan start date.

Your Service Plan will automatically end when one of the following happen:

You reach the prescribed kilometres or term as stipulated in your plan summary;
You fail to service your car within the manufacturer’s specified service interval for the second consecutive time; or
Your car is damaged beyond repair or destroyed before the expiry of the Service Plan.

You can do this by giving us at least 20 business days’ notice is writing, or by contacting our Customer Care Centre. You can also contact the Service Plan administrator directly. Full details of cancellation procedures are available in the Service Plan booklet provided when the plan is purchased.

Manufacturers require that you service your car after a specific number of kilometres (e.g. every 15 000 km) or at specific time interval. Some manufacturers will require that your car be serviced at specific terms (e.g. 12 months from date of first registration) even if you have not driven the specified number of kilometres. Refer to your owner’s manual for requirements.

The Service Plan will include the replacement of a Cambelt or Accessory belt only if recommended by the manufacturer at a specific term. Tensioners and pulleys will only be replaced if specified by the manufacturer service schedule.

Yes, Roadside Assistance is included with the purchase of a Service Plan

If your car is involved in an accident, the Service Plan will continue to cover your car only if all resulting damage, whether mechanical, electrical, structural or body-related is repaired by an approved facility or an accredited panel beater. If your car is damaged beyond repair or destroyed before the expiry of the Service Plan, you must notify us or the Service Plan administrator directly within 30 days.
